From this point on, this handbook assumes CRM Core is installed and enabled, along with all of it's accompanying modules and dependencies. Examples will point to a fresh installation of Drupal that has been set up according to the standard profile using the Bartik theme.
When CRM Core is installed on a fresh copy of Drupal, users will immediately notice the CRM Core block that appears in the left block region of the Bartik theme.
This block is important. It is a menu, and it is used in special ways by CRM Core for registering common navigation options. Various tools and features in CRM Core will use this menu to register links to their pages. Feature developers can use this menu to register links to tools used in their sites. Administrators can modify the links presented here to include links to their own interfaces.
Make a note of this menu, this handbook will come back to it at various points.
The CRM Core menu will contain 2 links by default:
- Contacts, which links to the main interface for managing contacts.
- Reports, which links to the main interface for distributing reports in CRM Core.
Disabling the CRM Core Contact UI module will make the link to contacts vanish, and disabling the CRM Core Reports module will make the link to reports vanish. This menu will change automatically when the CRM Core Dashboard is enabled, which will be discussed elsewhere in this handbook.
Next up, the contact screen.
