Abandoned Groups: Policy for Deleting a Group or Changing Its Manager

A Drupal group can become abandoned in two different senses:

  1. The group manager can lose interest, become too busy with other activities, or otherwise abandon the group. In this case, the group would need a new manager.
  2. The group itself can lose the unique purpose that differentiated it from some other group. In this case, the two groups should merge.

If you think a group has reached either of these points, take these steps:

  1. In the group's discussion, post a new thread in which you propose the desired change. (If the group is closed to new members and you are not a member of the group, you may skip this step and an administrator will do it for you.)
  2. Using the current manager’s contact form, send them a message pointing them to that thread.
  3. Wait 2 weeks. In the meantime, respond to any comments that occur.
  4. Post an issue to the groups.drupal.org project confirming completion of steps 1-3 with a link to the original message.

If the native language of the group is not English, please post the message in both English and the native language of the group.
