Manage Group Type Permissions

If a group administrator goes to the Group tab for a group there are links to Permissions and Roles. By default the linked pages are read-only and locked (see two screenshots below).

In this default case permissions and roles can only be configured for the group type and not the specific group. To configure permissions and roles for the group type (as well as other configuration options for Organic Groups) a site role must have the Administer Organic groups permissions (see /admin/people/permissions).

Once these global permissions have been set, the administrator can navigate to /admin/config/group to see Organic Groups configuration options.

To manage group type permissions click on the OG permissions overview link. You will then be presented with the following table which lists any group types that have been created on the site. Click on the edit link to set permssions.

The next page lists the same permissions that were shown as read-only from the group's Group tab. These permissions allow the administrator to override the site global permissions for group content types as well as control the way users can subscribe and manage groups.

Similarly to manage group type roles click on the OG roles overview link. Again, you will be presented with a table listing group types. Click on the edit link to add roles or edit permssions for specific roles.
